About Petaluma, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Petaluma is a Sonoma County, California city with a population of roughly 58,000 residents. It is located about 40 miles to the north of San Francisco. This city was incorporated in April 1858, and it was originally known for its chicken processing and grain milling industries. Today, Petaluma is home to many well-preserved and distinguished pre-1900s buildings and classic Victorian homes. Petaluma is also a notable destination in the tech world, as numerous telecom startup companies are based here.
The City of Petaluma is home to a variety of unique attractions and things to do. History buffs may enjoy a trip to the Petaluma Library Museum or Military Antiques and Museum. The Cinnabar Theater hosts a variety of opera, drama, dance, and other performances throughout the year, as does the Phoenix Theatre. Animal lovers may enjoy a trip to the Petaluma Wildlife Museum, and outdoor recreation can also be enjoyed at Helen Putnam Regional Park or Shollenberger Park.
The weather in Petaluma is typical of a mid-Mediterranean climate. Summers are dry and characterized by cool nights and warm days. August tends to be the warmest month, and daily temperatures reach an average high of 82 degrees. Record highs have reached well into the 100s, so residents will need to have access to an air-conditioned home in order to stay comfortable when these warm fronts push into the area.
Petaluma residents typically enjoy quite comfortable winters. Temperatures are cool, with daily highs in December averaging in the upper 50s. This season brings about ample rain, and frost will occur on some clear nights. Although snow is rare, average low temperatures do fall into the 30s during the overnight hours, so residents will want to ensure that their heat pump or home furnace systems are running properly to keep their homes warm and pipes from freezing.
